The new Yellow Jacket series of synthesizer products offers the fastest digital command rate on the market while still providing outstanding RF performance. Yellow Jacket is the world’s fastest 19-inch, 1U signal source covering 10MHz to 2.4GHz with a clean switching speed of 0.2ns over the entire frequency range with no band-breaks. For real-time frequency changes or pulses, the unit can be commanded via industry-standard parallel port to change frequencies every 20ns using Single Data Rate strobes. There is also a mode for Dual Data Rate (DDR) strobes which allows consecutive frequency changes every 10ns. A no-strobe command mode allows for 8ns changes between any two frequencies. For ultimate speed junkies, the pre-stored list mode allows the unit to change frequency (or phase) every 0.167ns or 6 billion steps/second producing linear or non-linear FM chirps with ultra-clean sweep rates of 6,000 GHz/s (Example 1KHz step size). The RF output power is +10dBm with excellent phase noise of -120dB/Hz at 2 GHz @ 10 KHz offset and the minimum frequency step size resolution is 0.1Hz. This technology completely removes the need to use FETs or PIN-diodes for RF pulse formation because the sinewave is turned on and off at the digital phase counter. This method of pulse forming produces amplitude isolation greater than 100 dBc for the pulse “off state”.
